 Small Business Grants/Loans

  • The new Congressional stimulus bill created a $350 billion fund for small business loans that can be forgiven as grants as long as certain conditions are met. Child care programs — including private, non-profit, and in-home programs — are encouraged to determine their eligibility to apply. Please see this resource created by the US Chamber of Commerce for simple information to help you start.

Unemployment Insurance

  • If you are currently out of work, you are most likely eligible for unemployment insurance. The new Congressional stimulus has ensured that self-employed workers like family child care providers are also eligible. We know that New York State has experienced an unprecedented number of calls, but encourage you to keep trying to get the money that you need. The Bipartisan Policy Center has more information regarding unemployment insurance and the child care community here and additional information here.

The Child Care and Development Block Grant

  • CCDBG received $3.5 billion in the stimulus. This resource from CLASP explains how that money can be used by states and how much New York may receive.

 Other funding

  • Child Care Aware has developed a list of resources and funding sources that can be used by child care programs right now. This includes funding to distribute food and technological assistance.
  • Small Grants for Small Children: A funding program of Adirondack Foundation specifically for child care providers in Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, and northern Warren counties (within the Adk Park boundary), as well as the Akwesasne Reservation.
