Helping Families Move from Surviving to Thriving

Juliette Lynch, Family Resource Center and Permanency Resource Center Project Director and Parenting Educator from the Child Care Coordinating Council; Healthy Steps specialist Christy Bezrutczyk; and Traci Ploof, Executive Director of the Prevention Team, Essex County, attended a virtual train-the-trainer event, Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Your Life and Work, focused on providing strength-based family support. This research-based approach results in strengthened families, optimal child development, and reduced likelihood of child abuse and neglect.

BT3 is planning to support the team and regional implementation of this framework. The protective factors framework will provide partners connecting with families with shared terminology and philosophy. The team will be meeting regularly and will also be joined by Laurie Booth-Trudeau, Pediatric Care Coordinator at Plattsburgh Pediatrics, who is also a trainer in the framework. The team’s first step, as they design and schedule training sessions, is to identify regional partners and organizations who are interested in learning more and/or hosting or attending a training.
