Alliance Member Spotlight: Margi Carter

Margi Carter saw an opportunity to help her community. In 2009, Margi was approached by the Children with Special Health Care Needs Director from the Essex County Health Department to open a special needs program. With the support of the school district's Committee on Special Education and Preschool Education chairpersons and the State Education Department, Margi opened Children's Development Group for Speech, OT, PT, and Psychological Services, PLLC.

In addition to speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and psychological services, Children's Development Group provides childcare, partners with school-age services, and performs developmental screenings for Head Start, Family Connections, and other child care providers. Margi says enjoys the opportunity to "provide needed services to children and families in the North Country." She explains, "I like the fact that I get to be a part of the ground floor of a child's development and help provide that stability." Margi decided to join the Alliance because, "All of the agencies and the providers in the area need to work as a team to provide the best possible services to our children."

Even with her full time job, Margi still finds time to be a part of the Ready Set Grow coalition, chair BT3's Access to Quality work group, and work toward her doctorate degree. Thank you, Margi!
