Child Development Spotlight

Some might say, "Babies don't need books - they can't read!" But oh, how wrong you would be.

By listening to their caregiver read a story, babies can learn a bunch of new information about their world. They are learning the sounds of letters, and learning that written and spoken words match pictures and emotions. Reading also provides very important quality time with a caregiver. This article from kidshealth.org tells us the importance of reading to our babies, what they are learning, and what to look for in books we provide.
